Bolivia is a stunning, multicultural, geographically diverse democracy in the heart of South America. Bordered by Brazil to the northeast, Chile to the southwest, Peru to the northwest, and Paraguay and Argentina to the south. Bolivia shares control of Lake Titicaca (Lago Titicaca) with Peru, the world’s highest navigable lake.
Bolivia is sometimes known as the Tibet of the Americas due to its rugged geography. One of the most “remote” countries in the western hemisphere, Bolivia is one of only two landlocked countries in the Americas, with a river ‘lifeline’ of the navigable Paraguay River stretching to the distant Atlantic.
Bolivia is also the most ‘indigenous country’ in the Americas, with 60% of its population being of Native American ancestry.
